Church Banner FAQ
When the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center in Portland, Oregon needed to decorate their new location with Christian banners, we were close enough to work on site. We would love to do that for every church. Distance usually makes that impossible, so we help the same way we have for decades: by phone, email, and careful design work until the banner is right for your sanctuary.

How long does it take to make a custom church banner?
Plan on about four weeks from payment to delivery when you can.
Rush work is often possible if today is not the deadline. Call 800-373-8027, and put the needed date in the special-instructions box at checkout. Faster shipping may add cost.
Seasonal banners we already have in stock can ship sooner. When in doubt, call.
What materials are used in your church banners?
We prefer Bengaline moire for the face of the banner. It has a wood-grain look, hangs with dignity, and hides dust and fingerprints better than satin.
We use satin only when a church asks for it. Satin shows dust and fingerprints, wrinkles easily, and can outshine the letters and graphics.
Are your worship banners lined?
Yes. Our custom church banners are three layers thick:
- Face: drapery-weight Bengaline moire
- Center: interfacing so the banner hangs straight without weights
- Back: heavy-weight poplin
Fringe is sewn into the bottom to help it hang true. You may choose a sleeve or a notched tab top for the hanging bar.
Letters and graphics are laser-cut metallic tissue lamé or satin, heat-bonded, then outlined by hand with dimensional adhesive and fine polyester jewel glitter or sequins.
Some designs are finished with airbrush for shadow, clouds, glory, or rays. A sequined braid perimeter trim is also available.
What sizes do church banners come in?
Standard vertical sizes:
- 3 ft x 20 in
- 4 ft x 30 in
- 5 ft x 36 in (our most common sanctuary size)
- 7 ft x 4 ft
Longer banners (8, 9, and 10 ft) can be made by stretching the design or using 60-inch fabric when it is available. Extra width can be added with sewn side panels.
A single 7 x 12 ft banner is hard to make, costs more, and often does not hang well. For a large wall, several banners in one design usually look better and hang better. We can lay that out for you.
How much do custom church banners cost?
Base prices include one graphic, up to 21 letters of text, and color or shape changes:
- 3 ft banner — $215
- 4 ft banner — $375
- 5 ft banner — $455
- 7 ft banner — $695

Extra charges
- Design, first hour — $79 (simple changes are free)
- Extra graphics — $30–$50 each, by complexity
- Extra letters — $0.50–$2 each, by size
- Tab top (notched) — $30
- Tassels — $25 per pair
- Top bar and finials — $40 (style may change with supply)
- Processional T-pole — $55
- Flag stand — $50
- Airbrush — priced by complexity
No sales tax except on orders shipped to Washington.
Does it cost extra to change the color of a church banner?
No. Do not judge a banner by the color in the photo. If you need a pair or a set, we can match shape, color, and font. Tell us what you want.
Do you sell church banner kits or patterns?
Not at this time.
May we copy your church banner designs?
No. The designs are the property of Christian Banners and should not be copied.
Can you make a worship banner from our church’s design?
Yes. That is some of our best work. Send a rough sketch with size, colors, graphic ideas, font ideas, and a phone number. We will take it from there.

Can these banners be used outdoors?
No. These are indoor church banners. A parade or festival is fine for a short time. They cannot stay outside. Moisture will harm them.
What is your return policy on church banners?
A standard banner may be returned for a full refund of the product price if you are not satisfied. Shipping is not refunded.
A custom banner made specifically for your church, and not resalable to another church, is not returnable.

How do I clean a worship banner?
Vacuum with an upholstery attachment. For a spill, ask a dry cleaner about spot cleaning.
How should we store church banners?
Best: leave them hanging, covered with a sheet, in a reasonably climate-controlled room.
If you must pack them, roll them face out and return them to the box so the front does not wrinkle. A light ironing when they come out of storage is fine. Call if you have questions.
Can we put a memorial or dedication on the back?
Yes, at no charge. We print it on a 3 x 5 inch piece of fabric and sew it to the back. There is no practical word limit. Tell us when you order.
How do processional T-poles and stands work?
We sell a top bar, processional T-pole, and flag stand made to work with our banners. Add the set, or a top bar alone, when you order. Weight the flag stand with sand or similar so it will not tip.
